Episode 53 Ministry at a Motorcycle Rally–LaVonna Cline 6-13-14

June 13th, 2014 · Comments

Every year, over 400,000 motorcyclists descend upon Sturgis, South Dakota, for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The rally, the largest motorcycle rally in the world and one of the longest-running, nearly doubles the population of the state for that week in August. In this episode, we hear from LaVonna Cline who volunteers with the ABC Emergency Services Center, set up each year at the rally, to provide services, transportation, and counseling to rally attendees.

Episode 017–Reflections on ICAP Global Conference June 20 2011

June 20th, 2011 · Comments

ABWM-at-ICAP.jpg Here we are...some of the American Baptist women at the ICAP Global Conference! ICAP Global, or the International Christian Alliance on Prostitution Global, held it's international conference at the Green Lake Conference Center in Green Lake, Wisconsin, this past May.

In this episode, you'll hear me talk with Barbara Anderson (not pictured), Peggy Burke (first row, center, in pink blouse), Virginia Holmstrom (far first row, far left, in black jacket), and Debbie Kelsey (not pictured) about our experiences before and after the conference week. (I'm in the second row, far left.)

Here's a party game for you: There are three other people in this picture who have been featured in past episodes of In Their Shoes. Can you find Lauran Bethell, Susan Omanson, and Margaret Rose?

March 14th, 2011 · Comments

IMAG0630.jpgIn this episode of "In Their Shoes," four of us who attended the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women share our experiences with you. UNCSW was the last week of February and the first week of March this year (2011). Four of us from American Baptist Women's Ministries, including one senior in high school, participated in several days of workshops in the "parallel events" hosted by a variety of NGOs from all over the world.
