Episode 35 1000 Conversations Campaign with Rev. Nancy Neal 7-16-12

July 16th, 2012 · Comments

Although hunger can seem to be such an overwhelming need for one person to tackle, Bread for the World has launched a campaign that gives each one of us some simple things we can do to be part of the solution. In this episode, I talk with Rev. Nancy Neal of Bread for the World about the 1000 Conversations Campaign. By pledging to have 1000 conversations, we can each help spread the word about the importance of maternal and infant nutrition in the first 1000 days of a child's life, and advocate on behalf of women and children globally.

IMAG0630.jpgIn this episode of "In Their Shoes," four of us who attended the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women share our experiences with you. UNCSW was the last week of February and the first week of March this year (2011). Four of us from American Baptist Women's Ministries, including one senior in high school, participated in several days of workshops in the "parallel events" hosted by a variety of NGOs from all over the world.

Episode 001: Interview with Kihomi Ngwemi–Haiti–11-09-2010

November 9th, 2010 · Comments

Welcome to the first episode of our new podcast series, "In Their Shoes: Women Walking with Women WorldWide"! We're honored to launch with such a fantastic conversation as I had with Kihomi Ngwemi, missionary to Haiti. Kihomi and her husband Nzunga have served as missionaries in Haiti for many years. In this episode, I interview Kihomi just prior to her return to Haiti after having been gone for a year; she would be returning to a very different Haiti than she had left. Kihomi describes her ministry prior to the earthquake and begins to envision the ways in which it may change. I also include a short update from Kihomi sent to me a few weeks after her return.
